Welcome to the Eric G. Scott for Lapeer County Circuit Judge Homepage.  As you may have guessed, I'm Eric Scott.  As you peruse these pages, you will learn more about me, my family, and why I believe that I am Lapeer County's best option for Circuit Court Judge.  So sit back, relax, and take your time learning about who I am and what I stand for.  And Remember to VOTE FOR ERIC G. A little about myself.  I am first and foremost a father and a husband.  My wife of six years, Terri (Gross), and I live in North Branch.  We have a nine year old son, Nathan, who attends the North Branch Elementary School.  Like many of you, I am a hard working family man, struggling to make ends meet in todays economic climate.  I am a graduate of the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing.  While in law school I worked full time with the State of Michigan as a Children's Protective Services Caseworker.  Before moving to Michigan, I also worked with protective services in Maryland.  I was born into a middle class family in Great Falls, Montana.  Both of my parents were on active duty in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. 

I am also a Christian.  As a child, I was able to attend Catholic School through the eight grade.  Both of my parents were very devote Catholics who instilled in me the  values taught by Christ.  I believe very much in God and have felt him act in my life on many occasions.   

I am also a man of integrity who believes in fair and equal justice for all members of our society regardless of gender, race, colour, creed, or socio-econmic status.  I have lived my whole life with the belief that all we truly own is our integrity, when we lose that, we lose everything.  This was a lesson taught to me by father when I was a child and it is a belief that I hold on to today. 

I am a man of the law.  I believe that we have the greatest system of law and government in the whole world.  We live in a country where a man can speak his mind, pray as he chooses, and associate with whatever political party adheres to his values.  Along those lines, I believe that our First Amendment Rights are our most important rights to protect.  Without our freedom of speech, all of our other rights would fall.  I believe that each of us has an obligation to conform our lives to the law, not conform the law to fit our lives.  I believe that judges are the gatekeepers of justice, and must be fair and consistent, as well as protectors of due process.
