As all of you know, I am facing an opponent who is well financed, and well connected to the community. Knowing that, I liken myself to Abraham Lincoln, our 16th President. Lincoln came from meager circumstances. In fact, in todays political climate, Lincoln would not be able to get elected because he would be considered too poor to be president. In the early stages of my campaign, I was in fact told I shouldn't even consider running because, like Lincoln, I do not come from wealth. But, consider where our country would be if Lincoln had not run. Like Lincoln, I intend to run, and I intend to win despite the naysayers who believe community leaders must be wealthy. In order to win though, I do need your help and your votes. I do not want to run a campaign where he who spends the most, prevails. I intend to run as inexpensive a campaign as possible. That said, I do need to request some donations from supporters in order to put forth signs and literature. I will not ask for much, and in todays economic climate, it isn't fair to ask for much. We are all struggling in today's economy. If there are those of you who would choose to contribute to my campaign, donations can be submitted in the following manner. Michigan Law does prohibit anyone individual from donating more than $100 to a judicial candidates campaign. That is to ensure that your judge's are not bought and paid for, which makes sense.
Contributions may be sent as follows:
The Committee to Elect Eric Scott for Lapeer County Circuit Court
C/O Robert Skousen, Treasurer
P. O. Box 182
North Branch, MI 48461
Michigan Law requires that any donation made in excess of $20.00 must be in the form of a Cheque. Cheques should be made payable to the Committee to Elect Eric Scott for Lapeer County Circuit Court.
